A GREAT EVENT!
FOR THE FIRST TIME IN CENTRAL AMERICA


The GATICOS cat club ventured where no other cat club in Costa Rica had before: thanks to the effort of its founding members and the support of The International Cat Club, the first INTERNATIONAL CAT SHOW took place in San Jose, Costa Rica from June 29th to July 1st, 2001.

Honored with the presence of Judges from the United States of America and Argentina, Costa Rican cat lovers showed up at the Outlet Mall to experience for the first time the excitement of the contest and admire the beauty of the participants.

Himalayans, Persians, Siamese, Ragdolls, Angoras, Domestic Shorthairs and Longhairs were the predominant breeds at the Show.  But the atmosphere, the educational aspect as well as the involvement of the sponsors made it a unique opportunity for those of us who love and admire felines.

Many proud owners brought their house pets just for the excitement of the event, and some went home even prouder...

But in the end, it was all about cats.  The effort of these people is commendable, their results are excellent, and hopefully we can all start developing a cat-loving attitude among Costa Ricans.
